(slang) Preventing a person (usually a man) from having sex or advancing a relationship with another person.

A good example of this would be REC - 07, where Fumihiko’s co-worker cockblocks Fumihiko when he tries to speak his feelings to Aka. You can also say Tomari is Yasuna’s cockblock in Kashimashi. Or, in real life, when you try to hit on a girl and then your friend comes, acts dumb, and ruins the moment. Freaking cockblocker.

Important moments interrupted happen in almost every single anime or J-dorama series, as well as American entertainment. Why? To postpone the inevitable hookup until the end. Oh, all the cockblocking that goes on in anime and real life. It wouldn’t be an anime or J-drama episode if the couple actually got to kiss or say what they wanted to without interruption. So the new question is: How do you feel about cockblocking in anime? Are you one of those people who gets uber annoyed when the couple is right about to kiss and then some loser comes bursting into the scene, screwing up everything? Or do you find cockblocking essential to romantic anime existence, as otherwise there would be no plot?
