Ç?¿Ç?-Ç?¿Ç?- time with Winner-kun and Karin at the pool??? :O This episode is all Winner and no Usui!

• Summary

It’s summer time and Winner is remembering back to his past. He has made a connection between Karin and the little girl from his “dream” about his first kiss. So he plans a special love-love date for them together at a water park!

Karin decides not to tell Usui about the date but Usui still notices that she took a day off of her shifts. But there was still a bento lunch with a cute note in it lying in his cubby. ^-^

Karin, not sure how to break it to Winner that she ain’t interested, decides to piss him off as much as possible on the date so that he will hate her. She has Maki come too to help ruin the date. Since Maki is entranced with Winner, of course she approves of the plan.

At the pool, Karin tries a number of shenanigans but none of them cause Winner to dislike her. She tries dressing at first like an ugly dork, then tries acting selfish and mean, then tries to act like a pig and stuff her face. No negative responses from Winner whatsoever, to Karin and Maki’s dismay.

To help Karin feel less embarrassed about eating like a pig, she eats that way too, which only makes her sick. While she’s in the bathroom having a rainbow yawn, Winner takes Karin to one of the bridges at the park and there’s an anouncement. A special, rare solar eclipse is about to happen and everyone is given glasses to wear. Just as in Winner’s dream, a solar eclipse starts again.

Winner explains his past about how he could not endure the training to become a Vampire Hunter, so he ran away. Then, while crying on a bridge, this girl came to him and kissed him, inspiring him to become a Hunter. Karin then realizes that her first bite had been Winner and that she had been the little girl.

Winner turns to Karin and tells her to start a new destiny with him and tries to kiss her. Remembering the incident made Karin’s blood increase so she wound up with a nosebleed and threw herself into Winner’s chest, who thinks she is accepting his open embrace. When he sees the blood, he freaks out, as usual, but overcomes it so that he can carry her back to the rest area of the park, where Maki’s waiting. He collapses as soon as she’s safely in bed.

The next day, Usui and Karin are working a shift together when Winner bursts in, surprising Karin. He starts going off about how wonderful yesterday had been, embarrassing Karin in front of Usui, who has put two and two together. We don’t get to see much of Usui’s reaction but I bet it was interesting!

• Episode Review

This episode helped me come to like Winner more, for he’s a genuinely good guy, if confident and goofy and obsessed and misled and flamboyant and. And. Anyway, the way Winner managed to woo Karin a little bit was pretty interesting, too. A Winner Karin pair would be kind of nice, actually (maybe I just like odd couples). After all, they do have a history together as children. Maki Winner is way too boring but it’s pretty funny that Winner doesn’t even notice she exists. Poor Maki.

I also like how Karin biting Winner was not random because the writers have already implemented the reason for Karin’s biting, and we could see that Winner had been a very unhappy person at the time. Just thought I’d point that out. In the beginning, the meeting seemed random, but we find out now (and after paying more attention to Winner’s tears in the flashback ^ ^’) the story behind it, that Karin had happened to be there and Winner had been very depressed at that moment.

I feel kind of bad for Winner already because we know it’s going to be a Usui Karin match. Oh well.

Karin still making Usui bento was a cute touch.

Sidenote #1: See, guys, if only you had sparkling hair, you’d be swooning women wherever you go, too!

Sidenote #2: I’m sorry, but Speedos are not attractive in any cultural context. Especially when the guys have girl crotches. And if you’re a foreigner, Winner, couldn’t you at least choose trunks? Geez.
