The last two weeks, I have been out of the country. It was a Spring Break trip to the UK—England and Ireland. I was originally going to post a “Hey I’m going on a trip and won’t be updating” entry, but I ran out of time at the last minute. Hontou ni gomen for anyone that might care about my updating. I will try to catch up to the latest episodes with my last two days of vacation. Any anime you’d like me to prioritize? The only problem is, I might have a fever so I don’t know how much I can write without collapsing. XD

My reviews have been sparse and long-overdue lately, mostly because the current anime haven’t given me much to say…

I am in no way picky when it comes to watching anime. Sure, I have my preferences (love comedy over mecha, for example), but I will stick around with a boring anime for the most part, unless it is EXTREMELY terrible. I have only dropped a few series after at least 5 agonizing episodes (Can anyone say “Cluster Edge?”), and even then, I will look to reviews of later episodes to see if they are worth picking up again.

So what exhausts me so with keeping up with the current series, aside from the usual school/real life business? When I am reminded what real quality anime is like. I just recently finished watching the first season of School Rumble. Compared to the brilliance and funny packed into that jewel, a lot of recent anime have seemed cliche and trivial. I have also started rewatching Fruits Basket with my friend, probably my favorite anime series of all time. Compared to love comedies like these, shows like Kashimashi begin to fall out of favor. Even Karin pales in comparison, despite the fact that it is my most-enjoyed show coming out right now.

Other factors for my sporadic updates would be my lack of motivation at 8pm after a 12-hour school day (school–>after school evening Mandarin class). I am much more prone to simply enjoying anime versus trying to make a review out of it. I also just came down with a 102 F fever (39 C for you non-Americans)… So, recently, Saria has been out of commission. But never fear! I shall try to keep up my end, because blogging is an endeavor I’m determined to follow through. I am just having a harder time having fun right now.

I am thinking of doing at least series reviews if not episode reviews of older shows like School Rumble. The only thing stopping me is the guilt I feel for writing about an old show when I am not even keeping up with the new ones.

I am also trying to find myself as a relatively new blogger, and figure out what style best fits me and will work for me. A few other bloggers have referenced me using different descriptions, but I haven’t been given true insight into how people view my blog and what they like or dislike. Hopefully, over time, I will figure out exactly how I want to use this blog as a vehicle for anime reviewing or commenting.

I try my best to keep my blogging and personal life completely separate, but I thought I owed a post on the status of the site to anyone who has been wondering if I’m alive or not.

In other news, a Google Image Search for “anime tired” brings up a lot of questionable pornographic and hentai material. Hmm…

So what do you look for in an anime blog?

Do you read blogs for screenshots? Or just to see what a blogger’s opinion might be on an issue or anime?

What is more important: screenshots, summaries, or reviews/commentaries? What style of blogging do you prefer? Minimalist Jeff or thorough Memento? Note: I’m not asking who is better; these are just extreme examples of different approaches to blogging. And I happen to loves them both. :3

What do you enjoy the most about your favorite blogs?

Along the lines of lazy blogging, how important do you think it is to write a summary for each anime episode? Writing summaries is the most boring thing on the earth to me, since I would rather just write my commentary and be done with it. But summaries might really be appreciated by readers. I don’t know. Maybe people want to spoil themselves? I’m not exactly sure what most people look for when they read my blog or another’s.

I know when I first read blogs, I was trying to find info on particular series, deciding whether they would be worth watching or not. Or sometimes I would look ahead to future episodes to see if a series was worth continuing to watch. Later, I began reading blogs more for their commentaries on episodes interesting to me than for the screenshots or summaries.

Blogging is a hobby for me, but blogs are still meant to be read, so I want to write as well as I can and try to improve. :) I won’t change my entire style according to poll results, but I would like to know what readers look for.

So I guess we’ve come to a consensus, huh? Fantasy loli for all! 60% is a fairly solid majority. I’m glad some people did think pedophiles were just misunderstood, since where would we be without guys like abq? I think I would just drop to the floor, spasm, and then die. Alright, not really. As for where I stand? After reading Lolita, I’ve come to sympathize more with pedophiles, but I am pretty much with the other 60%. Loli-pedo fantasies are okay as long as they stay that. Finally, I can focus on future posts! All my older posts and messed up posts have been edited and fixed. I have to give a big ピカピカ ありがとう to Hung, who wound up being my savior after all this mess. I finally got the image wrap formatting errors corrected! (Don’t ask me why the thank you is pika-pika sparkly). ^-^ Also, now that I have ceased using the WYSIWYG editor altogether and just edited the HTML code straight, I can make sure there are no stray or unwanted tags and that everything is closed and nice. Yay for site overhaul completion v1.1!
